There is Hope
This is the
beginning of a blog where I will share my experiences on the journey of
striving for a healthier lifestyle, and being more minimalistic.
My generation
has created a culture of busyness, connectedness, and of stuff. The young
professionals have some of the highest debt ratios, our homes are filled with
stuff, and we are constantly in communication with others. Yet we’re unhappy. This
generation is often so busy that we turn to fast food for meals, or just have
junk food for supper. Constantly striving to fill our lives with “stuff” is
unhealthy. My hope is that I can share with you my journey to getting rid of
the clutter in my life.
I’m embarking on
a six-week journey to a healthier lifestyle. I will follow Dr. Joel Furhnams
Eat to Live program, I will increase my physical activity, and I will working
towards being more minimalistic. Why am I doing this?
At
the age if fifteen I was diagnosed with Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome. Poly
Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is defined as a condition in which some of women’s
hormones are out of balance, which can lead to the growth of benign cysts on
the ovaries. The side effects of PCOS are irregular menstrual cycles, fertility
issues, and weight trouble. As a teenager this was a hard diagnosis to accept,
yet there was no other choice. One of the most common symptoms of PCOS I
experience is difficulty with weight. Carrying any extra body weight increases
the chances of having fertility issues, and irregular menstrual cycles. This
has been a struggle for the last seven years; I’m ready to try anything that
might help with this side affect!
I
look forward to hopefully sharing my journey with you!
